The Owner's Story

Originally from Peru, Maritza immigrated to the U.S. looking to improve the lives of her children and family back home. Upon arrival, she found herself adjusting to a new climate, a new country, and an altogether foreign culture in the small mountain town of Walden, CO. She knew no one. She didn't speak the language. She had very little in the way of money or resources, and almost every dollar she earned was sent to Peru. A short time after arriving, she relocated to Steamboat Springs, CO and began a routine that she would keep for nearly 20 years before she began to realize the fruits of her labor.

 

Saving what she could, when she could, Maritza began her days at Lil' House Biscuits, oftentimes before the Sun's first light had found the valley floor. When breakfast service ended, she would pop over to Big House Burgers to work lunch and dinner before rounding out the day working at Snow Bowl until well after dark.

She never gave up, and never turned back. Intent on succeeding, she worked day and night to overcome every obstacle in her path. It paid off, as she has achieved her very own version of the American Dream.

 

More than two decades in, Maritza speaks fluent English, has given her family in Peru a life they otherwise couldn't have dreamed of, and ingratiated herself to everyone in the valley, As if that weren't enough, she opened her own restaurant in Hayden called Creek View Grill.

More than just a local watering hole for Hayden's residents to enjoy, Creek View Grill is the culmination of hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering drive that few others could match.

 

With an unyielding and unbreakable spirit, Maritza got to where she is today. She deserves admiration, encouragement, and support. She loves her community and the people who call it home. Hopefully they will love her just as much, and will show that love by supporting her endeavors and being a part of her success well into the future.
